Daddies – do not look! Review: ItsYourStory personalised book for Fathers’ Day

If, like us you are a family of three children and you enjoy reading, then you might be interested in the ItsYourStory personalised book ‘Daddy’s Zoo Adventure’.

We certainly thought it sounded good, so we were pleased to receive a copy to review before Fathers’ Day arrives this weekend.

The book is all about ‘Daddy’ and his trip to the zoo with his three children. When ordering, we had to upload a photo and provide some bits of information – our address, the names of the three children as well as two of their friends, favourite foods, colours, and the age of ‘Daddy’. There was also the option to put a personalised message on the title page, which ended up being ‘Daddy is the best Daddy in all the world’ according to the Wee Man. Hopefully the Other Half will feel appropriately pleased when he reads that!

The book arrived, and the kids had completely forgotten about the information we had typed in – so they were absolutely amazed that the hippo was the same age as the Other Half and that the book knew what their friends names were!

‘The hippo is 37, and so is Daddy!’ squealed the Wee Man in delight.

‘Silly Daddy, he is being a bat!’ an excited Bubby D proclaimed.

I think it’s fair to say that they really like it, and they asked if they could read it again. I told them they’re going to have to wait til Sunday because it’s a special present for Daddy and after some initial reluctance they agreed – they’re very excited about presenting it to the Other Half and reading it with him.

The only thing they were a bit bemused about was that they themselves don’t appear on any of the pages – the pictures are all of the animals and of the Other Half (the photo we provided has cleverly been edited and placed on top of a cartoon body on each page). I told them that this was probably because they were taking all the photos of Daddy and they were happy with that explanation – but perhaps the book could be better if it incorporated cartoon versions of the children too.

I can’t speak for the Other Half and his view on it yet, as he obviously hasn’t seen it – but I think he’ll enjoy it as the story is interesting and appeals to the kids and being personalised to all of them I’m fairly sure they’ll be having lots of fun reading it again and again over the next few weeks!
