L.O.L. Surprise Doll Launch with Toys AndMe – video review #LOLSurprise
D and Little B spend quite a lot of time watching YouTube, taking in all the latest toys – and the L.O.L. Surprise Doll is the newest collectable craze to hit the shelves, with the launch taking place yesterday at Westfield London.
Even more excitingly, the launch was being presented by none other than Tiana from Toys AndMe. So of course, D really wanted to go!
What is a L.O.L. Surprise Doll?
What’s inside the 7 L.O.L. Surprise doll layers?
Unwrapping the L.O.L. Surprise doll
D lost no time at all in unwrapping her very own L.O.L. Surprise doll to see what surprises were in store.
First she got a clue… we figured out it was Drama Queen pretty easily because it’s the same clue Tiana got! (and also because it says what it means, upside down on the clue, just in case you can’t work it out…)
Next came the stickers. Once you have figured out what water skill your doll has you can stick the corresponding sticker onto the L.O.L. Surprise doll information leaflet, to keep a record of which dolls you have.
Third up is the bottle. D got a cute little pink bottle with a silver top.
Another layer unwrapped, and D found shoes for her doll – little pink sneakers.
Next came the dress for her doll, and following the same theme as the shoes, it was also pink.
Finally it was time to open the plastic casing and reveal the doll and accessory inside. D immediately found the accessory, which is a pink tiara.
And then…the L.O.L. Surprise doll herself. With her brown bun and green eyes, D easily identified her on the information leaflet as being ‘Fancy’, a ‘popular’ doll from the Opposites Club.
Once she was dressed and ready, it was time to discover her water skill… and it turns out that Fancy can cry!
As well as the doll having lots of little accessories to play with, the case itself very cleverly turns into four different items that can be used with the L.O.L. Surprise doll:
1. A stand for Fancy
2. A handbag to carry Fancy around in
3. A chill out space for Fancy
4. A bath for Fancy to cry in
L.O.L. Surprise dolls are priced at £7.99, which is quite a lot for a collectable – however you do get quite a lot more than is offered by other collectable toys. Having so many layers to unwrap meant that D was kept occupied for a much longer time, and once she had unwrapped everything the versatility of the case and the doll meant that she was very happy to play with it all afternoon. And evening as well, because Fancy came in the bath with her too. No doubt she’ll want to play with it most of tomorrow too…
As an adult (and the one who will be paying for more of these, no doubt), I am impressed with the quality and attention to detail – a lot of thought has obviously gone into making this a really interesting, exciting and durable toy that will be very much enjoyed. I also like the fact that even though there are several small bits that go with the L.O.L. Surprise doll (the dummies that come with some dolls for example, are tiny) they are all interchangeable between dolls – so if the odd bit gets lost then it isn’t the end of the world.
As collectable toys go, it gets a big thumbs up from both D and I. We can’t wait to see which L.O.L. Surprise doll she gets next time 🙂
