Review – My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic – Baby Cakes
Things in pony land have changed a bit since I was a kid.
I remember Majesty. And the fact that she had a castle. But that’s about it.
Just recently though, it’s all been reintroduced to me. Ever since D got herself a pony on wheels as a birthday present, a My Little Pony obsession has been developing – and this week it’s culminated in repeated requests to watch the ‘baby ponies’. Which, as it turns out are the twin toddlers Pound Cake and Pumpkin Cake (who if nothing else have inspired me to give a bit of baking a go this week)…
And they’re featured in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic – Baby Cakes.
Pinkie Pie (one of the bigger ponies) for some reason decides that looking after two crazy toddler ponies would be a good idea. She likes playing with them, when their parents are around to do all the stuff that babies actually need – but when Mr & Mrs Cake desperately need a babysitter, she realises that looking after babies rather than just playing with them is much tougher than she thought.
I could have told her that!
In any case, it makes entertaining watching if you’re 4, and it’s not too irritating as an adult either. We’ve also discovered a renewed love of ‘Peekabo’, which has been renamed ‘PinkiePie’ by D and is very much loved by an excitable Little B.
That’s just one episode of several, all of which have ponies getting up to mischief in various forms and of course, generally triumphing at the end. As cartoons go, it’s pretty watchable, and definitely a winner with D, who would watch it all day if she could.
