Fathers Day Waffles
Fathers Day in our house was not a day of commercial gift giving. Well, mostly anyway. The Wee Man was rather keen on some ‘Super Dad’ Daddy Pig lounge pants he saw in ASDA and since the Other Half doesn’t really own much in the way of such things, I gave in and let him acquire them as a little present.
And they went pretty well with the rest of the ‘doing nice things rather than buying nice things’ Fathery stuff that was planned, as it happens. Namely, a lie in. And some waffles.

The waffles were of the breakfast variety, and although I didn’t feel that letting small children and hot waffle irons come into contact with each other was entirely a great idea, I did get them involved with measuring ingredients, stirring, and then serving the results up to the Other Half.

The Wee Man was very keen on pouring a drink for Daddy, something which I figured he’d probably be able to manage aged nearly four. Unfortunately I forgot that Bubby D would inevitable try and imitate and we did end up with an orange juice pond on the front room floor.
On the plus side, she did manage to avoid juicing the waffles, and after some cajoling (the Wee Man seemed to feel that his own waffle eating needs were the priority…) the Other Half was served with a warm waffle covered with banana, kiwi, strawberries, cream and honey.
And then of course, we all sampled them too 🙂
