Happy 30th Birthday Cabbage Patch Kids!
A lot of the toys that are around today didn’t exist when I was a child – classics like the speak n spell would look somewhat out of place now sat next to the toddler tablets and laptops gracing the shelves now.
But some things do last the test of time, such as a trip to Hamleys – the worlds oldest and largest toy store – which as a child was a rare and exciting treat looked forward to for days. And today, my own kids got to experience the very same thrill as we were invited to come along to Hamleys and help celebrate the 30th Birthday Party of another great classic that is still around today: the Cabbage Patch Kids.
We started out with an exciting tube journey, where we met up with friends along the way…
…before waiting, noses pressed to glass, for the party to begin…
…and then, we were in! It’s not every day that you get to go to a private party in Hamleys and there were lots and lots of excited small children happily meeting the friendly giant Cabbage Patch Kids!
The Wee Man loved all the classic party games; some he already knows and loves such as pass the parcel, and others which are set to become firm favourites and have already been demanded for his own party in a few weeks – ‘duck, duck, goose’ and ‘beans’. The entertainers were all so enthusiastic you couldn’t help but have a great time.
Bubby D was content just to look around in wonder at all the goings on, getting stuck into some craft and cabbage seed planting, and running around playing duck, duck, goose even after the geese had all sat down for their brunch!
After singing Happy Birthday and helping blow put the candles on the cake, the buffet, balloons and goody bags just topped off what had already been a ROARSOME morning.
So Happy 30th Birthday, Cabbage Patch Kids!
We’d like to say a big thank you to Corinna and Norton and Co. for inviting us, and all the fantastic Hamleys entertainers who made it such a special 30th Birthday Party. It’s going to be the talk of toddler town for weeks!
Lots of the photos I’ve used are courtesy of my lovely friend Kate from www.thesecretlifeofkate.co.uk, who has a much better camera than me 🙂
