Pregnancy diary – Week 19

This week has seen a lot more going on!

Both in terms of what I’m doing, and what Pippin is doing.

Wee Man asked me how big Pippin is now, and I realised when I told him ‘about the size of a mango’ (according to my weekly pregnancy update thingy) that actually, that’s fairly large. (And I also realised that the Wee Man has no idea what a mango is, which made it a very unhelpful analogy for him). Actually, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a six inch mango. Perhaps we only get substandard tiny mangoes around here…

Anyway, this increase in size has also led to an increase in my stomach protrusion, and an increase in the amount of kicking going on. Whereas before I was only feeling gentle little movements, in the last week I’ve started experiencing a lot more forceful kicking; and it’s nice to start feeling like I’m getting to know Pippin (who seems to be a fan of baths, pancakes, and bus rides).

I’ve also been feeling quite ‘nesty’. This is obvious from the fact that the Other Half nearly fell over in shock when he came home to an extremely clean and tidy front room on thursday (a very unusual occurrance), and also from examining our bathroom, which is now missing a bath side panel and half the tiles from the floor as I suddenly felt it needed refurbishing. I’ve been climbing around in the loft, sorting things into piles and wondering in awe at the amount of baby stuff we seem to have accumulated; and finally I’ve been collapsing on the sofa, realising I’ve been overdoing things and I’m actually not sure I can climb up the stairs…

I didn’t really feel particularly pregnant before, but now it’s all starting to get a bit more real – and next week we have our 20 week scan so I’ll get to see Pippin again. Hopefully this time with a nose!
