Thanks for having me! Mother’s Day gift guide and ideas
Mother’s Day has never been a big event in our family, in the sense of buying expensive gifts or showering people with flowers.
It’s more been about showing appreciation through our actions, getting together as a family and spending some time together over a meal and an afternoon of no other distractions.
But there’s no denying that the occasional small gift has been given and welcomed, and so here are some ideas I have for little gifts to go alongside big hugs and kisses:
Gumigem teething necklace
This is a great idea for mums with young babies, as it’s something that can be enjoyed by both! Made of silicone, the pendant is soft, chewable and washable yet still looks like a lovely piece of jewellery. Having it around your neck means you never have to fiddle around to try and find a clean and usable teether that might otherwise be lurking in the bottom of a changing bag too.
They come in a range of different styles, so there is something to suit every mum – I personally really like the heart pendants and skimmers. When we’ve been out and about with my Miller Heart pendant I’ve had lots of people comment on it and Bubby D loves to have a good play with it too.
Eisberg non-alcoholic wine
For mums who are pregnant or breastfeeding this is a lovely treat. Whilst I’ve been pregnant I have to admit that I’ve not exactly missed alcohol (I’m not really a big drinker), but there has been the odd occasion where I’ve thought I’d quite like a nice glass of red. Eisberg tastes lovely and would be a great accompaniment to a home cooked Mothers Day meal, but there is no alcohol involved!
Mamajewels nursing jewellery
For breastfeeding mums, these are a lovely idea when babies get to that stage where they are starting to notice the world around them and perhaps get a little bit distracted. With something to focus their attention on and play with, feeding times are a lot easier (anyone who has had a baby suddenly pull away every two minutes to have a good look around and a wiggle will know exactly what I mean!) and the jewellery looks great too. I like mine so much I keep on wearing it even after I’ve finished the breastfeeding relationship with my babies.
Hanging basket or flowerpot
For slightly older children, getting together a basket, some soil and some flowers that they can either plant with help or present to mummy as an activity to do together is something that is really lovely at this time of year. It doesn’t have to cost much and looking after the basket and the flowers is something that can be done during the year which is not only lovely for mums to watch, but also educational for little ones too.
Home made cake
Everyone loves cake don’t they? And most kids love making them! I don’t think that needs any further explanation…
And best of all for me this Mothers Day, it’s Pippin’s due date! I can’t think of a nicer gift than that!
