Festive Feeding – an outfit for every festive breastfeeding occasion with BeebiesBabyStore #AVeryBeebiesChristmas

Six Christmases.

That’s how long I’ve either been pregnant or breastfeeding, or both.

And because of that, there have been some ‘Christmassy’ things that I haven’t been able to partake in for a while. Consuming quite a lot of mulled wine, for example. Or eating my own bodyweight from all the various cheeses on offer.

But one thing needn’t suffer is my wardrobe (even if it is tempting to just hang around the house for the ENTIRE winter in just a giant fluffy onesie, covered in a blanket cape). Christmas is a time for feeling festive, and part of that also involves looking festive – so what can I wear that is comfortable, accessible, and also looks great?

Here’s what I’ve come up with:

Christmas Eve

This is a day for being a bit casual, yet still with the possibility of family calling round or perhaps a (non-alcoholic) drink or two with friends in the evening. The short sleeved teal maternity and nursing top (£16.99) is perfect for this, teamed with some smart jeans and my brown boots – it’s smart casual, comfortable and with easy breastfeeding access for slotting in a quick feed for Little B here and there in between the present wrapping, food preparation and marshalling overexcited kids into bed.

The top has a two layer effect around the bust which allows for feeding without the need to pull down the entire top part of the material – the straps of the breastfeeding part are on the thin side though, so don’t expect it to provide a complete cover up (more just the reassurance that you won’t end up with your entire chest area on display!).

Christmas Day

The Royal Blue Cocktail Dress looks great worn with black leggings (and slippers!) – just right for something smart but comfortable whatever happens and whoever turns up on the day. It doesn’t have the same discreet breastfeeding openings as the teal top, but it IS very easy to pull down for access when required, without the need to faff around.royal blue cocktail dress

It’s quite low cut, so it’s worth bearing in mind that a lot of maternity and breastfeeding bras might be visible underneath. I wear it with my Bravado t-shirt style bra underneath and that actually works perfectly – it just looks like I’ve layered it with a vest top. Equally, my Mammae bra isn’t visible at all, and the shape looks lovely.

And if you’re having a Christmas night out, rather than a Christmas Day in with the family, this top can be dressed up with a nice necklace or a scarf for a great, non-obvious festive feeding/pumping look.

Boxing Day

a.k.a. in our family as ‘The Other Half’s Birthday’.

And seeing as it’s his birthday, as well as being the day of recovering from all that overeating… by eating MORE, an outfit with feeding flexibility and a forgiving waistline is ideal.

The Maternity Formal Dress in burgundy (£21.99) – with it’s high waist and flexible neckline which provides easy access – will be brilliant for this. On me, the length is a little longer than I’d like; I’m going to take it up an inch or two and it’ll be perfect. But for most people, who aren’t 5’3”, it will be just right. The material is lovely and soft, and drapes just right to hide any festive bumpy bits without making you look pregnant if you aren’t any more.

I’ve been wearing it with tights and my brown boots, but equally you could make it more casual with some leggings underneath or glam it up a bit with some sparkly shoes!

And on top of them all is my ALL TIME FAVOURITE cardigan, the Maternity Cardigan in grey (£22.99).

It’s knitted and warm and lovely, and big enough that it can wrap around Little B and I so that we are both kept snug and warm. Left unfastened, it drapes really nicely to provide a casual accompaniment to all my tops and dresses; and fastened, it can be used to make breastfeeding more discreet. It even works fantastically for baby wearing, as the clever button fastening at the top means it can drape around a baby carrier without covering Little B’s head.

The sleeves are adjustable and can be worn full length or 3/4 length. It’s so versatile that it’s great for just about every occasion, and luckily for me it washes and dries easily and quickly too – because I’ve been wearing it pretty much every day since I got it!

And the best thing about all of them?

This Festive season, they’re all 15% off!beebies festive feeding discount

Merry Christmas 😀
