Sustainable drinking – OhYo bottles review

There’s something new that’s taken up residence in my bag.

It’s squidgy, it’s colourful, and it’s watertight. Which is a good thing, as many other things in my bag don’t mix well with water – something I’ve experienced with great frustration fairly regularly since having small children on the loose.

The something I’m talking about is our OhYo bottles.

Collapsed down, they take up barely more room than my mobile or my wallet (both things that I generally like to keep water away from) – but stretch them out and they take enough water to last the kids on an afternoon out. Without spilling it anywhere! We tested this theory, much to the Wee Man’s delight, by holding a closed OhYo bottle over my head upside down…and luckily for me they don’t leak AT ALL. (I should also point out that if squeezed with the drinking spout open, they can propel water quite far and fast across the room – but demonstrate that to your kids at your peril!)

Even Bubby D finds it very easy to hold and drink from, although I do need to make sure that the drinking spout is pressed right back into the drinking position for her otherwise she has a tendency to only open it halfway and then lots of dribbles down her front ensue. And they’re not just good for the kids – I find them very useful for myself as well. One of them has taken up residence in my aqua aerobics bag for use when I get thirsty during a deep water aqua session (it’s thirsty work, that).

They’re certainly a refreshing change from the usual bulky cups that I find lurking around leaking in the bottom of bags.

I think I’ll get some more 🙂
