Our Beebies Christmas Wishlist – #AVeryBeebiesChristmas
With the countdown to the countdown of Christmas this year now well and truly underway, the kids have turned their attention to the seemingly inexhaustible list of tantalisingly bright, shiny, bleepy and whizzy things being advertised every five minutes on the children’s TV channels. Every few minutes, Bubby D declares ‘I’ll get that tomorrow!’.
Sadly for her, that is not going to happen. Even on Christmas morning, it’s not going to happen. We simply don’t have the space or the sanity to cope with it all.
So instead, I have busied myself with scanning the virtual shelves of Beebies Baby Store, picking out the things that I think would either a) last well, b) encourage co-operative play, c) not create a hell of my own making in the form of irritatingly upbeat musical blarting or d) amazingly encompass all three of the previous points.
And here they are!
Gingerbread House Dress (£20) –
Bubby D is currently obsessed with gingerbread houses. Building them, eating them, talking about building them and eating them… Having them in a wearable form would pretty much tip her over the edge in excitement terms. Little B could even have one too! Matchingness – there has to be matchingness at Christmas 🙂
Wooden Pirate Skittles (£18.99) –
I’ve no doubt that these say that they’re only suitable from 36 months (most things do) but whatever, I reckon they would work well for all three kids. The Wee Man loves bowling, Bubby D loves lobbing balls at things and Little B likes knocking things over so all bases covered. PLUS they’re pirates. They all like pirates. (I haven’t exactly had confirmation on that point from Little B. I’m sure she does though).
Happy Hopperz Reindeer (£25.99) – we don’t own any Happy Hopperz and this little guy really appeals to me because he is red, and very smiley. Even though he is a reindeer I reckon he could get away with staying out year round, and fulfilling his purpose of providing bouncing joy. Three times over! Little B had a go on one of these yesterday and loved it; and I know that Bubby D and the Wee Man are keen on them too. Can you fit three children on it? I’m thinking NO but I’m guessing they’d try it anyway.
Tildo Activity Walker (£39.99) –
This one would be mainly for Little B, who has just started pulling herself up on things. Having said that, I can see the older ones wanting to give it a go too, and it does look like it’d be robust enough to cope with that. PLUS no batteries are required.
Penguin Costume (£12.99) –
The best cracker joke of my childhood years: ‘What goes red, black, white, red, black, white, red, black, white…?’
The answer is, of course, a sunburnt penguin rolling down a hill!
This penguin is not sunburnt, but can, judging by the expression of the model, still encourage equal amounts of merriment. I’d kind of like to get an adult sized one too!
Hideaway Country Kitchen (£149.99) –
This kitchen has plenty to keep all three kids occupied, but the advantage of being fold-away-able when they have finished using it. Anything foldable immediately gets the thumbs up given our limited space. I love how neutral it is too – something that can blend into just about any room.
Tiny Love Follow Me Fred (£24.99) –
I do have a feeling this one might be breaching requirement C above, but…I just know Little B would love it. And probably the bigger ones too. It looks small enough to hide at the bottom of the toy basket when I’ve had enough of whatever noises it makes…I think? Anyway, it’s made it through the vetting net.
I’m ignoring the fact that it barks intermittently. I’ll just pretend it’s next doors dog, or something.
Kidcraft Mega Ramp Racing Set (£84.99) –
This is one of those things that goes alongside my ‘when I win the lottery’ fantasy. Not because it’s expensive – it isn’t really, given the quality and potential for play longevity – but more because I need a much bigger house to fit things like that in.
In fact, if I win the lottery, I’m building a full sized one for my real car. Why don’t they make full size garages like that? Boo to boring parking garages.
So that’s what’s top of my list for now. Good news for Father Christmas – it’s pretty easy to find something for everyone this year. And while we may not end up getting all of these things tomorrow, or ever (I WILL win the lottery!), I can certainly keep on dreaming about them. That’s why its a ‘wish’ list, right?
