Win: £50 to spend at Best4Frames

For the last ten years, I have been staring at the same picture on my front room wall. Actually, the front room wall has been four different walls in four different houses, but every time I have moved the picture has moved too, and despite the fact that I bought it from a car boot sale for a fiver or something, just to have SOMETHING to put on the wall, somehow it’s never been replaced with anything else.

It’s not that bad a picture. It’s just not that great, either.

I’ve kind of reached that point where I feel perhaps instead of being in the ‘oh well, we’ll move again anyway’ sort of mindset, we should move towards the ‘actually, this is OUR house that we actually OWN in a really odd grown up kind of way’. I still kind of feel like it’s someone else’s house. Even though we’ve been here more than five years now…

So I’ve decided that the picture has to go. And I want to replace it with some photos, some of the family and some of places that mean something to us, in a variety of frames that eclectically match each other, and also match the room. My mind is actually gibbering a little bit excitedly  in delight at that idea, as well as reminding me that yes, I have actually reached my mid thirties and become excited about something as minor as basic interior design.

Best4Frames have a variety of different frames on offer, and lots of different mounting options too – all easily searchable through their website. My wall is white (in a kind of smudged, sticky child handprints way) and after lots of deliberation and pondering the many, many frames on offer, I have decided to go with white photoframes too. This may or may not be the right decision…but I’m hoping that the little bit of texture it adds will complement the wall and blend nicely rather than standing out too much. I’ve gone for a variety of sizes as well, and a couple of colourful mounts for two of the ‘places’ pictures to add a splash of colour and break things up a bit.

It COULD all go horribly pear shaped. But the great thing about having neutral, classic frames (I went for ‘Nielsen Apollo White‘ which has a matt finish and clean, straight lines) is that if they don’t work in the front room, I can easily put them somewhere else where they will fit better.

If you’re thinking that this sounds like a great idea and you’d love to do it to, or you think you could probably choose better and come up with something far more awesome, then why not give it a go yourself? Best4Frames have given me the chance to offer one of my readers £50 to spend on frames of your choice, whether that be one big one or many different ones like me.
