Surviving school holidays without blowing the bank – the Voucher Codes Summer Survival Guide

VC D caught in the actEeek! It’s the start of the summer holidays and I’ve got ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA how I’m going to keep three small children entertained for even a few days, let alone a few weeks!

Well, actually that was true until last weekend – and then we went along to get some tips and ideas from Voucher Codes, who will shortly be publishing their Summer Survival Guide (which follows on from the very useful Kids and Family Finances Paper, which was published in the New Year). It’s all about how to have fun as a family this summer without blowing the budget – essential reading for me…

…and just to get us in the money saving mood, we tried out a few ideas on the day.

Biscuit decorating…VC biscuit decorating

Colouring and crafts…VC craft Dancing in a homemade disco, complete with the obligatory ‘Let it Go’ and some bubbles…

VC let it go VC bubble popping 2a bit of tower building

VC giant blocks and trampoline bouncing…

basically, all really simple and cheap activities that can appeal to a range of ages and keep them happy for hours (which they did!).

Plus of course, it’s always more fun with friends – it was great to see Clare, Ruth, Katy, Mary and their families too đŸ™‚

I’m looking forward to reading the Summer Survival Guide and seeing what other tips and tricks the experts and other parents involved have come up with.

Roll on Summer!
