Back on New Year’s Day, I was tagged by Amy from MummyFox to do the (Not Big or Fat) Quiz of the Year. I have spent most of the time since then asleep or being jumped on by kids, but finally I have some spare minutes so here we go:
What was your highlight of 2016?
It might sound a bit weird, but discovering that there is a reason why I’ve been feeling / acting the way I have – and that it’s not just me going mad. At the beginning of 2016 I knew there was something not right, but it took almost the whole year to get some answers. When my consultant told me that I have an underactive thyroid and that’s (most likely) why I’ve been so exhausted, forgetful, achy and irritable I actually wanted to hug him. I’m still following the journey of full health investigation (something to do with cortisol, and ongoing EDS queries) but it’s a huge relief to know that it’s not all just in my head, and that it’s treatable.
Also, I think I changed my final nappy. Hooray!
Name one thing you are most likely to remember about 2016 if asked in five years time?
The birth of my niece. Not literally, I wasn’t actually there – but it’s really cool having a little person to interact with that is family but not my direct responsibility, and also wonderful seeing the joy that she has brought to my sister and her husband. Seb, D and Little B are so excited to have a little cousin in this country to play with.
And on a related note, I think I’ll remember teaching my first full antenatal course too. Scary but fulfilling 🙂
Sum up 2016 in one word
Name one pearl of wisdom from this year that you will carry with you through 2017
Materialism isn’t everything.
Do you have any new year resolutions?
No, but we do have an anti-bucket list of things we definitely don’t want to do…
How are you seeing in the New Year?
Did this already… It was the same as every other night at the moment, really. Curled up on the sofa, munching random festive leftovers – but with the added extra of fireworks out of the front room window and the discovery that (having not watched TV live for quite some time) live TV is still pretty crap. Lots of new Netflix Originals to explore though.
What would you most like to do in 2017?
Sort out my health, sort out the house, and have at least one month where there is still money left in my bank account at the end of it. And get to Disneyland, and enjoy it (this may harm my ambitions for the bank account thing).
What are your main goals for 2017?
Avoid any more chronic illnesses. And also find some ceiling lights for the house that work, and look nice, and aren’t very expensive.
How about you?
Let me know what your answers would be or if you would like to be tagged too!
