G is for gadgets – the new series of Lazy Town and some great new gear for Sportacus!

Our introduction to Robbie Rotten came last year when we took the Wee Man to see CBeebies live. Initially he was just a little bit worried about this sneaky man who was locking up all the ‘Beebies’, but after a few minutes (realising that we weren’t going to let Robbie Rotten lock him away in a box) he really got into it and starting booing along with everyone else.

And not only did we enjoy watching Sportacus (or Mr Whiskers, as the Wee Man calls him – because, of course ‘he’s got whiskers Mummy!’), Stephanie and Robbie Rotten at CBeebies live, we also got to enjoy watching episodes of Lazy Town once we returned home too – reruns from series one and two.

Some children’s TV programmes really get quite annoying, but I do like Lazy Town because it reminds me to get up, have fun and play with the kids. Sometimes I do need a good reminder to do that – especially early in the morning or late in the afternoon where slouching on the sofa really seems like a very appealing option. But there’s nothing better than watching everyone jump around with big happy grins on their faces and actually it usually makes me feel a lot more energetic – actually that applies to activity in general. The day always goes better when we get up and do something, although that’s easy to forget after only a couple of hours sleep and a little voice in your head that’s telling you to stay sitting down and try and doze for a couple of minutes…

sportacus gadgetsSo there was big excitement when we found out that Sportacus and Lazy Town are returning for a third series. Not only that, but Sportacus is equipped with some great new gadgetry – a multisports backpack and a SportsCandy Energy Level Indicator; and the Wee Man was extremely pleased when he was invited along to get a glimpse of them in person. His new costume was created by the same people that gave Batman his sleek attire, another of our favourite Superheroes 🙂sportacus collageWatching a new episode on a big screen was thrilling enough for a three year old on it’s own, but then when Sportacus himself entered the room, walking on his hands and doing a few somersaults, he could not stop staring in amazement (‘Mummy, look, it’s MR WHISKERS!!!’). Sportacus went on to demonstrate just how much energy his SportsCandy (that’s apples, in case you were wondering!) could give him, leading the kids in a great aerobics session which got them all jogging, doing push ups, dancing around, spinning and jumping.

sportacus2I very much doubt that anything will ever convince the Wee Man to eat an apple – he’s been resolutely against the idea since he started eating solid food – but he certainly needs no convincing to do the energetic bouncy bits. He even had a go at ‘the hardest push up in the world’ – which involves lifting one arm and one leg off the floor whilst you’re doing it (you won’t catch me giving that a try).

sportacus3So this weekend, we have been told we are all making ‘Mr Whiskers backpacks’ and then we are going to bounce around together to the latest Lazy Town episode – now being shown on Cartoonito.

It’s not exactly how I was envisioning spending saturday morning. But then again – it sure beats cleaning!
