Horsey, horsey don’t you stop…

This morning, Bubby D and I went to ‘Song and Rhyme’. This is a 45 minute singing group for babies who aren’t walking, and Bubby D really seems to like it, usually. Apart from last week, when she slept all the way through it. It looked like the same might happen this week, but I was determined to try and involve her in at least some of it. Instead, she fed through the hello song, howled at Zoom to the Moon, and looked suspiciously at the parachute when we sang the Rainbow song. Then true to form, she fell asleep.

Perhaps this is something to do with the fact that she’s heard far too much singing lately. This is because in the car we have an extremely large selection of childrens’ music, which I rightly or wrongly quite enjoy singing along to (apart from the song about elephants walking on a spiders web – what’s that all about?)
The Other Half has been at work or play the last three weekends – a wine fair, the Rugby World Cup (he’s a Kiwi, say no more) and some overtime at work numbering among the reasons, either way he hasn’t been around so that has meant the Wee Man, Bubby D and I have attended a lot of playdates and outings that require a bit of a drive, just to keep them entertained and me sane!

My favourite CD is the nursery rhymes in Spanish by Babyboomboom. Having studied Spanish for a year at night college before the little ones came along, its quite nice to keep in practice and I find I recognise quite a lot of the phrases. The Other Half is not so keen, having no idea what they’re going on about, so its lucky he’s not around for all our recent drives. I’m not sure the Wee Man is picking up on the Spanish but he does like trying to sing along, and happily joins in with Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush.

The top five songs at the moment are as follows:

1/ If you’re happy and you know it (enthusiastic nodding, touching of noses, and squealing ‘we ARE’)
2/ Dingle Dangle Scarecrow (The first time we did this in the car I was quite alarmed at the angle of Wee Man’s head, he managed to get it so dangly)
3/ Hickory Dickory Dock (even if the Wee Man is always desperate to get to ‘the clock struck four’ so that he can scream NO MORE)
4/ Big Red Bus (its a song about buses. Enough said)
5/ Old Macdonald (preferably with the inclusion of monkeys, tigers and snakes – its more a zoo than a farm really)

No doubt they’ll all be rolled out for the Stay and Play on thursday. And Bubby D will sleep through it all again 🙂
