If you call him, he will come…
The Wee Man is at that stage where he likes to exert his power of choice.
For example, I offer him a tasty dinner which he would previously have gobbled down with no complaints – and get the response ‘I don’t want that’. Followed by ‘I want pancakes’.
Clearly I am not just going to whip him up a huge batch of pancakes (which he probably wouldn’t want once I had, anyway) and so a large tantrum will in all likelihood ensue.
In fact ‘I don’t want…to go to preschool / swimming / the park / on the bus…(insert whatever thing we are about to do)’ is a pretty common occurrence at the moment.
So imagine my surprise when, earlier, sitting in the bath with Bubby D I called the Wee Man and asked him to come and get in the bath too…and he said…
‘I don’t want to’.
Ok, that’s not the surprising bit.
The surprising bit was when Bubby D, for the first time ever, called for her big brother by actually saying his name…and then, he came!
With a huge grin on his face 🙂
So, now I just have to teach her how to say ‘meat and potatoes’ and ‘eat it’…
